The 3rd Leg is intended to be used with the Quick-Clip and Quick-StiX (Sold Separately) to create a lightweight but stable tripod for glassing/filming. Incredible & Creative

Received and tested out the 3rd leg & quick clamp system with Peak Sissy Stix using both as a glassing pod and rifle pod. Creative out of box thinking and good quality that I love to see. Save on pack space and weight. Would recommend a maximum fold up length of 24" yet keeping the extended length the same. This helps when using shipping totes flying commercially to Alaska or Internationally. Well Done Wiser!

Key Part of Lightweight Setup

In conjunction with the Quik Stix and a couple trekking poles is work as a solid, lightweight tripod for weight restricted hunting adventures

Left the tripod in the truck

As an older hunter I use trekking poles so I carry them anyway. I just exchanged my tripod for the third leg. It is easily less than half the weight of my tripod. Still works great. It's not stand alone so you need some of their other pieces. If you can put a pic rail on your stock, you have a really stable tripod rest

Why not

I’d say why not if you have or are buying a quick stix, especially if this is for hunting. It translates a stix bipod to a tripod so you can mount your bino or spotting scope for glassing. However, you also have to buy a quick clip in order to attach the third leg. Once you have both, you’d better buy a ballhead so you can mount your optics and use the optics. Technically you should be able to mount anything with a 1/4”-20 thread directly to the third leg. But you won’t be able to pan or tilt, so it’s really not practical without a ballhead (or panhead). It’s not cheap to get the whole set up. I also bought a picatinny to arcs swiss plat adapter so I can mount my rifle to the ballhead on top of this tripod set up.

Wiser third leg

Amazing piece of equipment. Easy to use lightweight and stable. I would recommend it to anyone that uses trekking poles. It's a game changer.

Awesome way to shed weight.

Buying the 3rd leg was one of the best gear decisions I made before my backcountry hunting trip this year. The first day out I hedged my bets and carried both the 3rd leg and my full carbon tripod. Set up both to try them out and almost hiked my other tripod back to the truck. Super stable, and being able to rotate the leg allowed my to move it to a better position in relation to the other legs depending on the terrain I set up on was super helpful. If you care at all about how much weight you pack, this should be part of your kit.
